This wonderful, huge character is Mrs Miniver's Great Aunt Augusta, busy writing her memoirs - in fact the old dear has fair worn out her paw through such prolific typing! But then she's recording for posterity, the extraordinary family trait shared by all the females in the family - wacky big flapping ears and exaggerated pointy feet. Meanwhile, Great Aunt Augusta is an austere
24 inches tall, and has lived a colourful life
since she entered the world in the Roaring Twenties (no wonder she has flapper ears!). Her eyesight is now failing, despite having had amber glass transplants, and her nose has lost much of its substance. But she still has a rather engaging smile. Her bright gold mohair still gleams in places, though not all over because alopecia has set in. Heavily filled with woodwool, her cotton twill pads have a few holes, but are wearing well.
Part of the Pointelle Girls' intrigue is that nobody knows from whence they came...but undoubtedly all will be revealed when Great Aunt Augusta publishes her eagerly-awaited memoirs.
