Hartwig
Hartwig is a sweet, original miniature Schuco yes/no elephant with US zone-Germany label c.1940s. He's in wonderful condition, though his tail mechanism no longer turns his head.
Standing on his hind legs he's 3.5 inches tall, the largest size in Schuco's miniature novelty range, and has a typical tinplate body covered in grey mohair, and is fully-jointed. His ears are felt, and he has tiny shoebutton eyes and felt tusks.
Wearing his original red felt waistcoat,
Hartwig is a very collectable little ellie, and his name is Old German meaning 'brave, hardy & strong'. He brings his miniature wooden school desk with him.
