Afton
Afton is an adorable, much-loved Merrythought teddy with wishbone earbutton and embroidered
footlabel c.1930s. She's all original and 22 inches tall.
Filled with kapok (head woodwool),
she's fully-jointed and has amber glass eyes and a brown-stitched nose and mouth. Only a few threads remain of her original webbed claws, and she has four foot claws, though one is broken. Her twill pads are in good condition, but slightly soiled. There's also a non-working squeaker in her tummy, and an old sewn repair close by.
Afton has kept about 50% of her gold
mohair, and is wearing her antique silk dress, and flower decoration. She's a lovely old bear, with a beautiful smile.
Her name is Old English meaning 'one from Afton'.
