Mildred
Mildred is a cute, loved-to-baldness, Merrythought Magnet girl with embroidered footlabel c.1930s. With her original horizontal nose-stitching, and small cupped ears set wide apart, she's the earliest style of teddy bear made by Merrythought, and is a smaller version of Patience on our blue website.
Fully-jointed and 15 inches tall, Mildred has amber glass eyes which may be replacements, and original felt pads. Her feet are good, but her paws are in holes and showing her woodwool stuffing. We can repair them for free if you wish. She still has some claws, and a non-working squeaker.
Only a few tufts of her gold mohair remain, but Mildred is a strong old bear with a sweet expression. She's wearing her handmade cotton dress, old bloomers, and little hat with 'pearl' tipped hatpin. Her name is Old English meaning 'gentle strength'.
